NEMA Offers Incandescent Bulb Phase-Out Brochure

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published a brochure that clarifies the upcoming phase-out of incandescent light bulbs. Beginning in 2012, and a year earlier in California, traditional 100-watt, 75-watt, 60-watt, and 40-watt bulbs will be phased out, with a completion date of 2014. Based on the average number of sockets per household, NEMA estimates American households will save an average of $143 on electric bills when the transition is complete. Lighting Options for Your Home summarizes the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act, which mandates reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, and explains how the changeover from incandescent lamps will help accomplish the country’s sustainability goals. Energy Audits

The first step is to evaluate your needs. Choosing an energy efficient system is not an easy task, and that is where our expertise will benefit you.

An audit is the most effective way to evaluate your current system and to identify methods of reducing long term operating costs. Providing an audit gives building owners the tools necessary to understand their current system. Facility managers now have the information needed to advise those with investment decisions about the potential of the energy efficient system improvement.

Detailed Proposals
A good audit collects area by area counts of all existing fixtures, reviews light level readings, identifies obstructions, checks hours of operation and reviews the tasks being performed within the area to make sure that the design selections will be correct for the environment.

When partnering with Butler Supply you will receive a detailed project proposal. You will receive an analysis of existing versus proposed project costs, benefits, simple payback, EPAct summary, and environmental impact. The proposal also supplies a bill of materials and a cover letter.

LED Lighting

Butler Supply understands and accurately represents the LED products we sell. We partner with manufacturers that support theirs sales claims with accurate testing data. As LED use continues to grow, understanding and accurately representing service life for these devices becomes more important.

    Advantages of Using LED Lighting
  • LED Lights produce more light per watt than incandescent bulbs.
  • LEDs have a longer life than traditional bulbs.
  • LEDs are ideal for use in situations that call for frequent on-off cycling, (fluorescent lamps burn out more quickly when frequently turned on and off)
  • LED can emit light of a specific color without the use of color filters, thereby, lowering initial costs.
  • LED lighting can be designed to focus its light, eliminating the need for reflectors.
  • LEDs are more difficult to break or damage when dropped compared to fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.
  • LEDs do not contain mercury, which can harm the environment, unlike compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • When lamp life nears the end, LEDs will dim over time, rather than suddenly burning bout like incandescent bulbs.

Philips Alto II™ Better for the environment. Same performance characteristics. There is a misconception that lowering the mercury will reduce lamp life, energy savings or life, energy savings or light output-this is not the case. Philips has developed an innovative way to lower the mercury level without sacrificing life or any other performance parameters. You can save money by retrofitting older T12 Lighting systems with new high performance T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. The more T12s you replace with T8s, the more energy you save. T8 lamps also offer improved life, quality of light and color rendering.

Bosch Tankless Water Heaters.

Bosch Saves Energy and the environment. If we all used tankless water heaters, collectively we could...
  • Keep 91 Millions tons of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere every year.
  • Reduce the number of tank water heaters (which cannot be recycled) going to landfills each year.
  • Decrease our country's overall dependence on nonrenewable resources like natural gas.
